American singer Rufus Wainwright blames his natural honesty for the slow start to his career - because he believes hiding his homosexuality would have made him more appealing to a wider audience.
The WANT TWO heart-throb is more than aware of his good looks, and if he had tackled the music industry with a pre-conceived master plan he's convinced women would be more inclined to buy his records.
He says, "I've always been a habitual truth-monger. I'm unable to lie.
"And I do think that if perhaps I had started off my career with more of a Machiavellian, strategic sort of plan to hide my homosexuality, I think in retrospect it could have been crafted quite magnificently.
