Rufus Wainwright has credited his boyfriend JORN with helping him cope following the death of his mother KATE MCGARRIGLE.
The 63-year-old folk singer lost her battle with cancer in January (10) and the Hallelujah hitmaker insists it was his theatre producer partner who helped him through the tragedy.
Wainwright tells Britain's Red magazine, "We were made for each other. I wasn't the marrying kind, at all, but when I met him I knew I had to give it a try, to break through the wall I'd built to stop people getting close. And I did and, of course, it's such a discovery.
"I don't know what I would have done without Jorn to help me through my mother's death. I'll be honest with you, my mother wasn't the most politically correct person when it came to my sexuality. She was liberal in many ways, but once it's your own kid, it's a whole other story.
"But she and Jorn developed a really close relationship. It was part of her letting go, in a way."
