Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has been accused of assault.

The 'Jersey Shore' cast member has been made the subject of a private citizen's complaint, after Justin Vierito made a claim of simple assault against the 26-year-old star following a fight at New Jersey nightspot Bamboo Bar on June 9.

According to Mr. Vierito, the altercation began when one of his friends was ''shoved by a cast member from the show'' and as he moved to help, he was ''struck in the left eye'' by Ronnie.

Ronnie's castmate, Jenni 'JWoww' Farley also reportedly sustained a minor foot injury in the fight.

The complaint also named MTV and parent company Viacom as defendants.

Ronnie must appear in a court hearing on July 3.

It is not yet known whether the accusation will affect Ronnie's current 18-month pre-trial intervention programme, which he enrolled in last year following an alleged violent incident in 2009.

The terms of the court scheme means her can avoid assault charges from the old incident - which saw him accused of knocking a man unconscious during a brawl - if he remains on good behaviour.

Ronnie is currently filming the new series of 'Jersey Shore'.
