Ron Howard has shocked fans by choosing to make a Western - but the OSCAR-winning director has wanted to film a cowboy movie for years.

Even Howard's long-time producer Brian Grazer humoured him when he announced his intention to shoot a Western.

The genre has fallen out of fashion after making stars out of actors like John Wayne and Clint Eastwood in the fifties and sixties, so Grazer was as surprised as everybody else when the former child actor began shooting his new movie THE MISSING.

Grazer says, "Every time we are about to renew our contracts, Ron brings up a Western. I always say, 'OK, OK.' But I never thought he'd actually do one!"
