Movie beauty Romola Garai was overjoyed when she landed the lead role in movie sequel Dirty Dancing: HAVANA NIGHTS, because it gave her a chance to expand her repertoire beyond costume dramas.

The 21-year-old British actress hopes the follow-up to the 1987 romantic smash will increase her profile in Hollywood, following her appearances in a succession of period-set programmes on UK television.

She says, "If I'm ever going to be any good, I need to be challenged. I can't spend the rest of my life being pretty in a bonnet.

"I grew up in the eighties so Dirty Dancing is a film I saw regularly. Havana Nights is a repeat on the theme of the original.

"I fall in love with a boy from the wrong side of the tracks. They are brought up together by dancing."
