The Mrs. Doubtfire star's widow, Susan Schneider, filed suit against her stepchildren, Zak, Zelda and Cody, in December (14) amid allegations a number of Williams' items were removed from the couple's San Francisco, California home without her permission following his death in August (14).

The defendants fired back at Schneider in their own court papers, insisting they were "heartbroken" over her decision to launch legal action, claiming their stepmother had withheld some of the possessions their father had bequeathed to them.

Lawyers for the two parties met in San Francisco Superior Court on Monday (30Mar15) and agreed to try and settle the dispute privately.

Schneider is keen to keep her wedding presents and the tuxedo Williams wore when they exchanged vows in 2011, in addition to photographs from his 60th birthday celebration that summer (11).

Meanwhile, Zak, Zelda and Cody are seeking to ensure all clothing, jewellery and personal photos taken prior to his marriage to graphic designer Schneider are handed over to them, as per Williams' final wishes.
