The filmmaker adapted his cult 1996 vampire movie for a TV drama in 2014, with castmembers including Danny Trejo, Wilmer Valderrama, D.J. Cotrona, Esai Morales, and Zane Holtz.

The third season is currently airing in the U.S. on the English-language El Rey Network, which Rodriguez launched in a joint venture with Univision broadcasting bosses in 2013.

However, officials are still considering whether to pick the show up for a fourth season, and a final decision is reportedly unlikely to be made until early next year (17), according to Deadline.com.

As a result, El Rey executives have had to release the From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series' stars, allowing them to pick up work elsewhere.

Rodriguez is currently busy shooting Alita: Battle Angel, a long-gestating movie adaptation of the popular graphic novels Battle Angel Alita, which is set for release in 2018.
