Scottish actor Robert Carlyle was the toast of the Gemini Awards in Canada on Saturday (13Nov10) after landing the coveted Best Actor trophy.
The Trainspotting star was awarded for his role in Stargate Universe, while Jonathan Rhys Meyers' The Tudors programme won the title of Best Drama.
The big winner at the ceremony, which took place in Toronto, was Canadian show Less Than Kind, which took home three honours.
Show bosses picked up prizes for Best Comedy, Best Writing in a Comedy and Best Individual Comedy Performance.
Producer Mark MCKinney paid tribute to late lead star Maury Chaykin, who died earlier this year (10), saying, "It's been a tough year for us", while writer Marvin Kaye added, "Maury was one of the most dear eccentric, terrifying and loving men I've ever worked with."
Other winners included Michael Buble (Best Host in a Music or Variety Programme for At The Concert Hall) and Elvis Costello (Best Talk Show for Spectacle: Elvis Costello With...).
