MATCHBOX 20 frontman Rob Thomas is pleased UK fans have taken their time to catch on to his music, because it makes him value his success all the more.

The SOMETHING TO BE singer rocketed to fame in his native America in a whirlwind of sudden success, and his debut solo album topped charts across the world earlier this year (05), but he has had to work a harder to find success in Britain.

He says, "It's a challenge, but it's great. In the States we had overnight success so we were thrown into this round of promotion and then trying to prove it wasn't a one-off.

"Here we really have to work at it. There's a real sense of pleasure in knowing that people are coming to us because of word of mouth.

"We felt as if this success was earned."
