Pop icon Rihanna sports a dramatic new look at her 'American Idol' finale performance with waist-length dreadlocks and a scantily dressed ensemble.

The look Rihanna chose for her 'Where Have You Been' routine can only be described as gothic/tribal with a racy black bikini top and long black skirt that was split up the sides almost resembling a loincloth. Her dark make-up and black nail polish added to the effect as well as her slightly more radically dressed backing dancers who donned leathery attire, face paint and enormous hair.

The three time Grammy winner Tweeted a picture of herself with her new dreads along with the caption 'Wake bake shake dem dreads'. Her fans reacted with excitement about the drastic change; one fan asked if her hair was heavy to which she replied, 'as Goliath's balls'. She also confessed to a fan that she had been wanting to get dreadlocks ever since she was fourteen 'but mama Fent'z [Fenty: Rihanna's surname] wasn't havin it!'

The 'Umbrella' hitmaker's stage performance was a success; the crowd went crazy for her typically raunchy routine and Rihanna reciprocated the love by saying 'I love you, Idol' at the end of the show. All in all, another brilliant performance to remember from the Barbadian star.
