Ridley Scott has approached Gemma Arterton about starring in the 'Alien' prequels.

The 24-year-old actress admitted he has requested a meeting with her to discuss her starring in the project after he saw 'The Disappearance of Alice Creed' and thought she would be perfect for a leading role in the movie, which has previously starred Sigourney Weaver.

She said: "The honest truth is that Ridley Scott has approached me to meet with him about something in the next few weeks. He saw 'Alice Creed' and loved it."

However, she also joked she doesn't know exactly what character she would play, leaving the idea open she could play an extra-terrestrial instead of the film's heroine.

She told Entertainment Weekly: "I'd love to get buff. But maybe I'll be playing an alien! I wouldn't mind that, actually. I like dressing up. That's why I became an actor in the first place."

Ridley recently confessed he was working on two prequels for the sci-fi horror movie, both of which would be "really tough" and "really nasty".
