A judge presiding over a lawsuit against pop rocker Rick Springfield has declared a mistrial so the star's lawyer has more time to question witnesses.

Vicki Calcagno is suing Springfield over claims she suffered permanent injuries after he allegedly fell on her during a gig in New York in 2004.

The case went to the New York Supreme Court on Wednesday (20Nov13), but Justice Anthony Paris terminated the trial on Springfield's lawyer's request after he revealed new witnesses had emerged.

The lawyer was handed 90 days to investigate the new claims.
