Richard Gere landed himself a new digital video recorder during a recent appearance on US comedienne Ellen Degeneres' chat show after confessing he'd never seen the programme. The actor told DeGeneres he was too busy working during the day to see her show, but his wife CAREY LOWELL is a big fan. Upset DeGeneres said, "You should invest in a TIVo and watch things at night when you're at home." Gere responded, "(My wife) understands TiVo, I haven't figured it out yet," to which Ellen countered, "It's the easiest thing in the world." She then stunned the movie star at the end of their interview by presenting him with a brand new TiVo, adding "I don't want anymore excuses." Gere said, "This is not an empty box; there really is something in here."
