Welsh actor Rhys Ifans is among the latest wave of stars to launch legal action over allegations he was targeted in Britain's infamous phone hacking scandal.

The Amazing Spider-Man star has filed a claim against Rupert Murdoch's News International group, the company behind now-defunct U.K. tabloid the News of the World, suggesting his voicemail messages were intercepted by a private investigator working for the company.

Ifans' complaint was revealed during a hearing at London's High Court on Thursday (20Jun13), where it also emerged that veteran singer-turned-Tv star Cilla Black is among the list of latest claimants.

Stars including Jude Law and Hugh Grant have previously been awarded settlements over the headline-grabbing scandal, which erupted in 2011 and led to the closure of the News of the World.
