Welsh actor Rhys Ifans has been quizzed by police after a reported fight with a British political candidate.

Police were called to the Mcdonald Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, Wales early on Thursday morning (7APR05) after a row between the NOTTING HILL star and ALUN DAVIES, the Labour Party candidate for Ceredigion, at the launch party of the CELTIC FILM AND TELEVISION FESTIVAL.

A police spokesman says, "We were called to the foyer of Macdonald Holland House Hotel.

"There were reports of a disturbance, bar staff indicated a verbal dispute. No injuries were reported.

"Further enquiries are ongoing."

Davies has since apologised to his party for the argument, according to a Labour Party spokesperson.
