The actress' desperate romantic Bridget Jones returns to the big screen in Bridget Jones's Baby, and in the new film, Renee's character tries to find a match on a dating site - something the star insists she will never do, because she finds the concept of meeting a soulmate on Tinder bizarre.

"That would be hilarious," she tells news show Extra. "I did go to a wedding last year and I did learn what Tinder was, and we sat and went through my friend's Tinder page, which is pretty incredible... but I can't imagine doing that."

She also can't imagine becoming a mum - like Bridget.

"I've never really thought like that about anything in my life, really," the 47-year-old adds. "I've always been kind of open to whatever. Maybe curious... about to see what's next. I've never been deliberate about what would make me happy in my life."

Bridget Jones's Baby brings Zellweger back to the big screen after a break from Hollywood.

The actress is coy about what she did while not making movies, but she insists it was a truly worthwhile hiatus: "It was time, it was time," she remarks. "I wanted to do some other things that there's not a lot of time for when you're caught up in the cycle of making films, 'cause they tend to overlap... There's not a lot of time to develop other skills... It's a pretty big commitment.

"I wanted to learn some other things. I did some pretty great things."
