Former Remy Zero star GREGORY SLAY has died after battling cystic fibrosis. He was 40.
The Save Me hitmaker passed away on New Year's Day (01Jan10).
After leaving Remy Zero in 2003, Slay won an Emmy Award for composing the theme to TV drama Nip/Tuck.
In a statement posted on the band's website, the drummer's former bandmates called Slay a "master musician" and "beautiful artist".
They add, "We are so grateful for the time we were allowed with other and for the wonderful opportunity to create with him for so many years.
"Gregory inspired all who had the chance to see him perform, to hear the music that he made or just to be around his bountiful spirit. He will be greatly missed."
