Remy Ma Hails The Rise Of Female Rappers

Remy Ma

Remy Ma thinks the landscape is changing for female rappers.

The 37-year-old American star is a veteran of the hip-hop industry and she believes that women are now being taken more seriously and given more opportunities than was previously the case.

She explained: "A change has come. There's always been a lot of female rappers that had talent. They just weren't being promoted or taken seriously or given an opportunity. For so long, it's been the same thing over and over and over."

There's something mildly disappointing about Nicki breaking her silence on the Remy feud; before it seemed like the jailbird was just not worth any of Nicki's thoughts let along her time. But, alas, this is the rap game, and she has at least clapped back with style.

Nicki Minaj is refusing to let Remy Ma get anymore attention than she already has by declining to rise to the rapper's bait. She hasn't said a word in response to Remy's two diss tracks about her, nor has she replied with her own counter-diss track. She's brushing off the whole thing.

Some things just aren't worth Nicki's time, and a string of insults, threats and unfounded claims are some of them. Nicki Minaj Threatening Of Gun Violence Nothing New According To Remy Ma

Nicki Minaj Mariah Carey Remy Ma

When Nicki Minaj threatened for American Idol co-judge Mariah Carey by saying that she would shoot the diva, the claim understandable turned a few heads. However this kind of threatening behaviour form Minaj is nothing new, at least that's what rapper Remy Ma says.

Back in 2008, when Minaj was still relatively unknown in music circle, a freestyle rap by her began making the rounds. The rap was hardly a positive one and in it she went for the jugular of another female rapper, presumed to be Remy, in which she threatened to shoot Remy. The verse in question goes: "Tell that bitch with the crown to run it like Chris Brown/you won three rounds, gonna need to hunt you down/like 'Chinatown' - b*tch better bow down/oh you ain't know, betcha b*tch is no nail/f- I got a gun - let her know that I'm the one."

At this point, Remy was the face of female rap, with Nicki eager to take her crown. Still, Minaj has never verified who the rap was aimed at and both female rappers have since had nothing but praise to say about each other, but that doesn't mean to say that the rhyme wasn't directed at Remy Ma.
