A New York judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Remy Ma's shooting victim, after she attempted to hold the rapper's former record label bosses responsible for her injuries.
Remy Ma, who maintains she is innocent, was jailed for eight years in May 2008 after she was found guilty of shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen during an altercation over money in July 2007.
Earlier this year (10), Barnes-Joseph's lawyer Lauren P. Raysor claimed Universal Records executives were partly to blame for the Remy Ma shooting because they had failed to punish her by halting the release of her music after her arrest.
But the suit was rejected by a New York appeals court on Tuesday (11May10) because Remy Ma - real name Remy Smith - had been dropped by Universal nine months prior to the incident, which landed her in jail.
