PYLON founder RANDALL BEWLEY has died. He was 53.
The guitarist and new wave cult figure suffered a heart attack while driving near his home in Athens, Georgia on Monday (23Feb09).
His van drifted off the road and tipped over, leaving the star in a coma.
Bewley's former bandmate and co-founder Vanessa Hay confirmed the musician passed away in the Athens Regional Medical Center on Wednesday (25Feb09).
Bewley formed Pylon in 1979 with University of Georgia art students Michael Lachowski, Curtis Crowe and Vanessa Hay, and the group became part of the Athens music scene, which also included the B-52's and REM.
The band ran for 12 years, releasing three albums, before its split in 1983. They reunited in 2005 for a one-off show.
