Reese Witherspoon is at home recovering after being hit by a car on Wednesday morning (08.09.2011).

The 35-year-old actress was jogging in Santa Monica at around 11a.m. when an 84-year-old woman failed to slow down and hit her. According to NBC L.A., Santa Monica police spokesman Sgt. Richard Lewis said "Witherspoon suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment." He also added "The driver of the vehicle was interviewed at the location and released after being cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, a violation of California Vehicle Code section 21950(a)." The vehicle is believed to have been travelling around 20mph and the OSCAR-winning actress is now at home recovering from the accident.

Born in New Orleans the actress began her acting career at an early age and appeared in 1990 movie The Man in the Moon and later went onto star in a variety of roles including the Twilight franchise, Cruel Intentions and American Psycho. However, she gained notable attention following her performance as June Cash in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line opposite Joaquin Phoenix and later won an ACADEMY award for Best Actress. She is currently filming new movie Mud, the story of two boys who help a convict escape in Mississippi.
