Rebecca Ferguson has announced her debut UK tour dates today, the former 'X Factor UK' runner-up finally gearing into action following a year working on her debut album and live set. The singer will be starting her tour in Manchester, UK's Bridgewater Hall on February 20th, with the 14 date UK tour drawing to an end in London's Theatre Royal on March 13th; the tour comes in support of the album 'Heaven' that will be released on December 5th 2011. The star will be appearing on the 'X Factor UK' this weekend with lead-off single 'Nothing's Real But Love' being released next week.
Talking to the UK's Daily Telegraph the 25 year-old spoke of her life since last year's 'X Factor UK' final and the subsequent process of making the album, Ferguson pressed home that she fought to stay true to her vision in initial meetings, telling Sony about what she would and would not do. "I actually sat down with Sony and said, 'Look, this is a joke, you are saying you want me to be a credible artist but getting other people to write my songs,'" Ferguson explained, "I've been writing songs for years. And in the end they completely backed off and just let me make the album."
A strong headed lady indeed, she also admitted that in hindsight she was glad not to win, saying "I'd be lying if I said that, when I was standing on that stage in the final, I didn't want to win. Everybody wants that petal drop. But, in the long run, I knew it would be better for me. It gave me time to get things right."
