Legendary author Ray Bradbury's estate, including paintings and comic art, has sold for $490,000 (£310,000).

The sci-fi author, who died in 2012, amassed an impressive collection of science fiction and animation art which was sold off via Nate D. Sanders Auctions on Thursday (25Sep14).

Notable pieces include a surrealist painting by Joseph Mugnaini called Carnival, which sold for $23,000 (£14,000), and Bradbury's Hugo Award, a prestigious accolade in science fiction, which fetched $29,000 (£18,000).

Bradbury was most widely known for his novels Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Martian Chronicles and Dandelion Wine.
