Bollywood star Rahul Khanna has become the latest celebrity to join a campaign to protest the inhumane treatment of animals - and has been publicly shackled for the cause.
The actor joins stars Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty and MADHURI DIXIT in the animal rights campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
Khanna, wearing a torn T-shirt and shackled in chains, posed for the organisation's latest advert which aims to highlight the suffering of elephants in India's cities and zoos.
ANURADHA SAWHNEY, chief functionary for PETA India, says, "It's a simple fact. When a celebrity speaks, people listen.
"Every time a celebrity speaks out for a cause, be it for animal abuse in circuses, or their conditions in zoos, or the suffering in factory farms, a lot of compassionate people come forward to find out how they can help."
