Rachel McAdams has laughed off rumours she is set to star in the upcoming Spider-Man sequel, with internet gossips turning their attentions to Julia Stiles instead.
The fourth installment of the web-slinging superhero adventure is said to feature comic book villainess the Black Cat , the costumed alter-ego of Peter Parker's latest love interest, Felicia Hardy.
The reports sparked speculation about which of Hollywood's leading ladies will be in line to tackle the feisty feline role, but MCAdams has shot down gossip that she is involved with the project.
She tells Entertainment Weekly, "That’s a total rumour, I have to say. I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me and said, ‘I just heard you’re doing Spider-Man 4.‘ And I said, ‘Really? No one told me!’ It’s not true.”
Now Stiles has become the latest star linked to the role, with Moviehole.net reporting the actress has been tapped by movie bosses to star alongside Tobey Maguire in the blockbuster, which is due for release in 2011.
