Director Quentin Tarantino has spent more than $140,000 (£89,000) on snow equipment to help his crew battle blizzard conditions during the filming of his new movie The Hateful Eight.

The Pulp Fiction moviemaker and his crew were not prepared for extreme weather as it hit the set in Telluride, Colorado on Monday (02Mar15).

The shoot was put on hold and crew members went to local business Telluride Tire to have their vehicles fitted with snow chains, spending close to $140,000 (£89,000) on equipment. They also asked mechanics to give up their weekend (07-08Mar15) to help them out.

Telluride Tire owner Stuart Armstrong tells Colorado Public Radio, "We put on five sets of chains, one more set of tires, and a couple of tows. It's been a very good increase in business for us, a bunch of business we normally don't see.

"I can't say enough about how wonderful it's been, but at the same time it's been really challenging trying to keep up with it all. They're demanding. When they (film crew members) have to have it, they have to have it yesterday."
