Queen Silvia Of Sweden has been injured after attempting to escape a photographer in New York, reports Fox News. Queen Silvia was shopping with her daughter Princess Madeleine on Tuesday (5th April 2011) when the incident took place.
A spokesman for the Royal Court has accused the photographer of "stalking" the 67-year-old, saying, "It's not a question of her simply wanting to avoid being photographed. It's more akin to stalking". The spokesman went on to claim that the photographer refused to acknowledge the Queen's desire for privacy and "hung around the entrance to the store". She attempted to leave the Madison Avenue shop through a side door and ran briskly to her car while being chased by the photographer. The statement goes onto say, "Unfortunately, the Queen then fell, injuring both her foot and wrist".
Queen Silvia Of Sweden, who is married to King Carl Xvi Gustaf, has been visiting New York to attend a variety of events connected to her World Childhood Foundation, which helps raise money for impoverished children.
