Queen Elizabeth II's husband Prince Philip is putting his recent health scare behind him by returning to public duties.

The Duke of Edinburgh, 92, endured an extended stay in hospital in June (13) following stomach surgery, and he cancelled all of his public engagements and a trip to Scotland with his wife while he recuperated.

Officials have now announced Prince Philip will make his first appearance in nearly two months by handing out medals at a ceremony in Edinburgh, Scotland on 12 August (13).

He will then travel to the royal retreat at Balmoral to join the Queen on their summer (13) break.
