The punk group shot to fame in 2012 when three members - Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alekhina, and Yekaterina Samutsevich - were jailed for staging a protest performance at a church in Moscow.

According to the New York Post's Page Six, the organisers of Art Basel are trying to secure a "minimum $10,000 sponsorship" to support the group's performance in Florida.

Since the trio's release from jail, the band members have been involved in a number of projects supporting global feminism and women's rights, and Alekhina announced plans to open the New Balkan Women's Museum, which will feature art exclusively from women, in Montenegro last year (15).
