Rocker Wes Scantlin has been slapped with a felony vandalism charge after allegedly breaking into and trashing his old Hollywood Hills home last month (Jan16).
The Puddle Of Mudd frontman was arrested on 9 January (16) after returning to the property he lost to foreclosure last year (15).
According to Los Angeles prosecutors, Scantlin attempted to gain access to the house by breaking a window, but when that failed, he allegedly called for a locksmith and had the locks changed.
Once inside, the singer and two assailants allegedly caused $7,000 (£4,790)-worth of damage by reportedly destroying the building's alarm system and wrecking a garage door and the plumbing system.
The 43-year-old, who is currently free on $20,000 (£13,683) bail, has now officially been charged over the incident and hit with an additional misdemeanour trespassing count.
Scantlin, who was arraigned on Wednesday (03Feb16), faces up to three years in jail if convicted.
His two fellow suspects were previously cited for trespassing.
The charges, filed by the Los Angeles District Attorney, emerge four days after the embattled star cut short his band's concert at the Adelphia Music Hall in Marietta, Ohio on Saturday (30Jan16) and stormed offstage after aiming a foul-mouthed tirade at a member of the audience he accused of stealing his house.
"Keep your goddamn money," Wes shouted in a video obtained by WQLZ.com. "F**k it. This motherf**ker right here stole my motherf**king house and now he's standing right f**king in front of me laughing at me."
It is unclear exactly who Scantlin was addressing in the footage.
