Onimusha 3 - PS2 Review

Makers Capcom have been around a while being responsible for two of the most renowned gaming series in Resident Evil and all time great Street Fighter franchise. We can now safely say that this Onimusha sequel has now put it up amongst and on par with Capcoms more famous stable mates.

You play the role of Samanosuke Akechi who is transported 500 years into the future to present day locations such as Paris where you interact with another character which you will control at various times throughout the game. This character is voiced and played by Jean Reno of 'Leon' and 'Mission Impossible' fame which adds a certain 'va va voom' to the proceedings especially in the stunning cut scenes which are some of the best I have come across, mainly due to the great plot and dialect, definitely not your usual tedious rubbish of grunts and growls you get in alot of cut scenes in games. I must admit I actually enjoyed watching the cut scenes its like watching a movie.

The gaming experience is based on a epic adventure which is basically sword wielding hack 'n' slash and what a game, its so simple but its so great! Kill the baddies watch a great cut scene then kill some more baddies and watch another cut scene and so on and so on which makes for a great game. The graphics are beautifully rendered the gameplay is smooth and dynamic.

For just hours of unadulterated fun you won't go far wrong with this title. I must admit that I had my reservations about this third title in the series which just goes to prove 'don't judge a game by its cover' BUY BUY BUY!
