Downhill Domination Review PS2

MASHED -DRIVE TO SURVIVE PS2 REVIEW

This driving title is akin to The Micro Machines titles but instead of tracks on dining and breakfast tables you have tracks in desert landscapes, industrial, icy and forest wastelands which is ok but unlike Micro Machines which was fun, a bit mad, quirky and ultimately good this isn't.

You have challenges against varying amounts of opponents round very simple tracks picking up power ups which give you a limited amount of extra fire power such as missiles, bombs, oil slicks and machine gun fire which you use to beat off the opposition in your pursuit of victory.

The races are viewed very much from an aerial point of view which just makes for an irritating game of minute cars hurtling round boring tracks. This game could of been produced years ago its just old hat, there is just nothing extra for driving fans in fact it is an insult that a game developer has the brass neck to put out a game like this no doubt with a healthy price tag and believe that us PS2 gamers will fall for it.

The game is as dull as dish water and so I beg you do not be fooled by any of those dodgy reviews claiming its a great reworking of a classic, absolute nonsense, it just isn't up to the standard of games we expect for the PS2. It should be confiscated to the bargain bins in every game store. The company who produced it should be suitably embarrassed,.

Now onto the title of the game 'Mashed', that puts me off the game straight away, couldn't they have come up with something a bit more inspiring. Once I decided to look beyond the name and place the disc into the PS2 I was mildly excited by the intro it looked visually quite strong, but then I started to play the game in single player mode and realised they must of been mashed on something to think they could get away with this rubbish at £34.99.

WARNING! DO NOT PURCHASE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
