DEF JAM: FIGHT FOR NEW YORK - PS2 Review

Having absolutely no idea what this game was all about only that it is second game in the Def Jam Series following Def Jam Vendetta which I had seen but not taken any notice of, and not knowing what to expect I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised by this EA offering. Oh Boy was I wrong, It is a shambles of a beat em up game. It is stereotyped Hip Hop nonsense.

You are a up and coming bad boy who breaks loose the big daddy of them all D-Mob from police custody, and then you ultimately want to be part of his crew, trouble is I don't think I can be bothered. To do this you go round busting heads by entering fight competitions around the city against various other Hip Hop knuckle heads.

You first choose which style of fighting you will use from Street Fighter, Kick Boxer, Martial Arts and good old Wrestling. Then you go out and fight. Winning fights gains you points which can unlock new venues and characters.

DEF JAM: FIGHT FOR NEW YORK - PS2 Review

Personally I couldn't give a monkeys, Tekken it ain't. It's a big lumbering mess of a game, the fighters moves are slow and cumbersome, the venues are uninspiring and the atmosphere is supposed to be dark and moody and it isn't. Its just big dudes with outsized jeans, basketball shirts, low IQ's and big Goldy Lookin' Chains.

The music's good though! if you like Hip Hop
