British royal Prince William was left shaken last night (06JUL05) after thick fog forced his pilot to twice abort landing in New Zealand - leaving the anxious heir suspended in mid-air.
The 23-year-old flew to New Zealand to join the touring British and Irish Lions rugby team, but was horrified when bad weather conditions delayed the plane's landing at Invercargill.
He says, "I would rather they abort the landing than plough into the runway."
A member of his party adds, "It was terrifying. I was frightened for my life.
"William was as terrified as anyone, but he didn't show it. He managed to stay cool under pressure."07/07/2005 03:00
