British royal Prince William has been slammed by senior officers at the military academy he is training at for losing his gun during firing practice. The 24-year-old, currently enrolled at Sandhurst, misplaced his L86 rifle at a military campus near Surrey, England. After reportedly spending a frantic two hours trying to find the weapon, he returned to the centre empty-handed. Although the gun was unloaded, the prince faced a severe telling-off for the incident. It was eventually handed in by another cadet. A Sandhurst spokesman last night (30OCT06) confirmed the mishap but added, "In fact Officer Cadet Wales' weapon was picked up and used by another cadet who handed it back a couple of hours later, so it wasn't really missing at all."
