British royal Prince Charles' wife CAMILLA, DUCHESS OF CORNWALL has been admitted to a London hospital for a hysterectomy operation.
The 59-year-old arrived at the $975 (GBP500)-a-night King Edward VII hospital at 11pm on Sunday night (04MAR07), but officials have not confirmed if she will undergo the procedure today (05MAR07).
A spokesperson for Charles and Camilla's London residence Clarence House said the operation was "routine" and was not cancer-related.
Camilla's engagements have been postponed for the next six weeks to give her time to recover from the operation.
A hysterectomy involved total or partial removal of the womb and is carried out if the patient has fibroids in the uterus, cancer or suffers from heavy or irregular periods.
