Wildeflower emerged last spring with the gorgeous and evocative 'Good Girl'. With the wind in their sails, the band set about recording their debut full length in the Surrey countryside.
Sessions were progressing well with layers of rich vocal harmonies, crisp acoustic guitars and chiming pianos colliding headlong with more experimental and psychedelic tones. The band's songwriter Max Kinghorn-Mills recounts the sessions:
"I felt challenged; trying to maintain a sound that was fresh and organic whilst pushing the whole thing sonically into something more progressive. We were close to finding the sound we wanted and I was excited with our direction before we encountered a series of setbacks, lost all the sessions and fell back to where we started."
Feeling dispirited, Max retreated in December to work on something new. The resulting EP 'Harbour & Good Company' is an acoustic affair, in his words a "hermetic winter record" featuring twelve strings, recorders, a dusty old piano and a childhood fiddle from the loft.
"I wanted to return to the frame of mind I recorded my earlier demos with; instinctive and humble. I think of this EP as 'music for headphones'."
