Violinist & Vocalist Erica Nockalls Announces Debut Album 'Imminent Room' Released May 13th 2013
British musician Erica Nockalls releases her debut solo album, Imminent Room May 13th. Erica describes her album as being "A genre-defying contradiction.". Her unorthodox approach to unusual instrument combinations and progressive song writing skills has produced a bizarrely coherent album of beautifully angular, melodic songs with savagely honest lyrics. "This is what happens when you grow up on an aural diet of Pet Shop Boys, Vivaldi and Marilyn Manson. The outcome was never going to be straight forward."
Since graduating from Birmingham Conservatoire with honours, Erica has spent the last seven years as a professional violinist with British indie rock band, The Wonder Stuff. As of 2008, Scottish legends The Proclaimers have repeatedly featured Erica as their live violinist. Erica has recently returned from a four week European tour with _ber-cool London/Brighton based Fink, performing on violin, viola and providing backing vocals. Amongst other notable session work, Erica has also recorded strings for the latest Ting Tings album, 'Sounds From Nowheresville'.
Erica co-produced Imminent Room with George Taylor (noh1 / Fratelli Brothers) saying that the album was born out of the personal frustration: "I hadn't been able to find any good new music to listen to, so I thought I'd invent some of my own". Imminent Room features noteworthy guest appearances from singer Wayne Hussey (The Mission), guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite (Peter Murphy/The Mission / Tricky / Mob Research) and vocalist, Jeff Walker (Carcass).
