The Balconies, after returning to Toronto after a successful European tour with Rival Sons, will be heading back overseas for two weeks of gigs, starting in the UK on May 2nd. The tour kicks off at the Liverpool Soundcity Festival, and then sweeps through the Netherlands ending with two performances at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, UK. In between the two festivals the band will join up with Two Hours Traffic for several of these dates including a showcase at the Dauw Pop Festival in Holland.
The band's new 'Kill Count' EP will be released on May 7th, 2013. The Balconies are hungry for fresh ears - as indicated by the video for the single 'Kill Count' which garnered the band extensive radio play and media attention. Produced by Jon Drew (Tokyo Police Club, Fucked Up), the EP was met with rave reviews in Canada, and is equally matched by their killer performances. Noisography says: "Their mesmerizing and energetic live shows consistently leave fans smitten and have been known to convert nonbelievers nightly."
The band recently launched a PledgeMusic campaign to raise money to finish up their new record, and met their goal in only two weeks! Their highly-anticipated upcoming album, recorded with legendary producer Arnold Lanni, (Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, Simple Plan) will be available soon. Fan support has been overwhelming, and the campaign continues - each pledge acts as a pre-order of the album. To be a part of it all, click here!
After playing some Canadian dates with LA-rockers Rival Sons earlier this year, The Balconies were thrilled to head overseas to support them in Europe. Rival Sons guitarist Scott Holiday commented, "...We had a terrific band out with us on our last tour through Canada - so terrific we had to ask 'em to come out to Europe with us. Toronto locals, The Balconies. A stellar three-piece, fronted by a fired-up, foxy guitar-playing gal (in one Miss Jacquie). These guys (and gal) write great songs, are great players, and definitely bring their 'A' game live. Dancy, upbeat, poppy, yet still gritty and tough."The Balconies had a blast supporting Rival Sons in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Holland! Upcoming tour dates below.
