We The Working Class is the debut EP from Sean Grant and The WolfGang.
A thought provoker. Not an activist, but a realist. Sean has been making music and writing from a young age and his development into a folk wordsmith and fronting Sean Grant and The WolfGang is the culmination of many years experimentation and exploration. He has found a voice that is unique to him and unearthed a rich seam of melancholy tales rooted in the first half of the 20th Century. The tone and subject matter of the EP owe more to the frank realism of a George Orwell or Jack London in many aspects than that of his modern musical contemporaries. For Sean this project is a personal mission to write about the real lives of everyday folk from the not so distant past.
The EP release follows a successful year for Sean and his band. Having been invited to play a number of UK festivals in 2013, his first single 'Name' was playlisted by BBC Introducing, who have already given the band tremendous support.
The WolfGang comprises thumping drum work, bass heavy organ and beautifully crafted blusey lead guitar lines from long term friend and fellow Northampton born Steve Fiske. Together they have been slogging it out in every toilet venue, bar, street corner just to catch the ear, which in turn has landed Sean an endorsement with Dr Martens for his hard working ethos - not to mention having worn the same pair of Docs for just shy of a decade.
The EP We The Working Class is a story telling power folk that packs the kind of punch you would expect to see in a bare knuckled boxing match. Be that of the lyrical content of title track or 'I Am The Devil' both lifting the curtain to domestic violence and brutality in the post war home. It's the unsung heroes he wants to tell you about.
