September 2013 will see the release of a new single from Myshkin - FAITHLESS - recorded in her spiritual home of New Orleans.
Deftly appropriating the name of Dostoyevsky's winsome, ingenuous and fictional Prince, MYSHKIN creates the unmistakable musical world of an enchanted outsider. Her experimental sound is that of a curious collector, equal parts nomadic wonder and organic precision. Through her seven solo albums she moves with grace from Punk-Poetry to Gypsy- Torch; from Folk-Tronic to Velvet-Swing, offering a visceral collage of textures.
Ever-restless, Myshkin has toured North America, Europe and Australia extensively, and soaked up the cultures of the many homes she has made for herself over the years. The shipwrecked grandeur of New Orleans mapped her musical temperament before sending her back out into the world; the mountains of Southern Oregon harbour a hand built earth- walled studio in which her last record - the heady and hypnotic THAT DIAMOND LUST - was made. The artists' hideout of Joshua Tree, CA currently holds her heart. Around the globe feathers and footprints can be found if you know where to look, and each of her migrant roosts has left its mark on her music.
Live - in stripped back solo and duo performances, or full band shows with the ever-evolving crew of genius gamblers that is MYSHKIN'S RUBY WARBLERS - it's her haunted voice, potent imagery and pungent guitar work which arrest audiences and pull them into a mesmeric, intoxicating otherworld. The ease and infectious dark wit with which she combines things found and invented belies the complexity of her songwriting. If you belong to nowhere, everywhere lies open to you.
Myshkin's career spans two decades of writing, recording, touring and collaboration, including co-creations with Mike West, The Road Dog Divas, Sugar Short Wave and the Kirk Rundstrom Band. She has received national airplay in the US and the UK, where BBC RADIO 3's Nick Luscombe (Late Junction) and Mary-Ann Kennedy (World On 3), along with BBC RADIO 2's Bob Harris have lauded the depth and quality of her music and lyrics.
Myshkin embarks upon a full UK tour in September, starting at
