Mono Town a three-piece, Independent band, from Reykjavik released their debut album 'In The Eye Of The Storm' exclusively on Deezer yesterday, January 27th. After a short period the tracks will be available more widely for download and streaming. The band have opted for a limited edition VINYL, in the first instance, as their only physical product - a release chronology designed to focus on reaching fans through the streaming service.
The unsigned band released two tracks, 'Jackie O' & 'Peacemaker' via Deezer last November 27th which have so far chalked up almost 1 million streams internationally in just under 2 months.
Mono Town's self produced debut, `In The Eye Of The Storm' was mixed by Grammy Award Winner Michael Brauer and their live shows are already receiving international acclaim. The trio most recently lined up alongside Nick Cave at the inaugural All Tomorrow's Parties in Iceland, followed that up with a performance at the internationally prestigious Iceland Airwaves Festival and then supporting The Pixies as special guests on a variety or dates on their European tour.
Mono Town said: "All new artists want to get their music out there, just as there are loads of people with an appetite to discover something new. The problem is matching one with the other. The approach we've taken here to release our debut material directly through Deezer is a new way of doing things which will get our music heard."
Many ticket-holders couldn't get into the O2 Arena show on Tuesday night (September 19th) because they didn't bring photo ID to match their booking.
An album re-release, a new song and a documentary mark the singer's legacy this year.
