Joanna Gruesome Cancel 2013 September Tour

Joanna Gruesome Cancel 2013 September Tour

Unfortunately Unfortunately Joanna Gruesome have had to cancel their September tour with Trust Fund due to illness. However, they will still be playing TONIGHT's (16th September) show at the Shacklewell Arms. The band have made this statement on their facebook page:

HEY GUYS we have rly bad news we're having to cancel our september tour with trust fund. alanna gruesome had her appendix out two weeks ago and was predicted to have recovered by now but she hasn't healed up properly and is super ill and has been advised not to tour. BUT we're still playin our london album launch and we'll be rescheduling the tour 4 january or april 2014. in the meantime, we're tourin wiv los campesinos in december. sry xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Thrilling Cardiff-based noisepop five-piece Joanna Gruesome release their terrific debut album Weird Sister via Fortuna POP! TODAY. Brimming with irresistible pop melodies and spiked with dissonant fuzzy jangle, their songs are shot through with loud discordant feedback and super-fast, hardcore punk drumbeats. This album sees their first foray away from recording in a living room to a proper studio under the guidance of producer MJ of the much lauded Hookworms.

Joanna Gruesome comprise Alanna on vocals, Owen on guitar, Max on bass, George on guitar and Dave on drums. Kicking it against sexism and homophobia, nothing is off-limits, drawing inspiration from DIY scenes such as Riot Grrrl/noisepop/C86 /K-Records as well as post hardcore like Drive Like Jehu/Converge and the art rock of The Velvet Underground and My Bloody Valentine, Joanna Gruesome offer a staggeringly diverse album, unexpectedly quiet and surprisingly loud.

The album is the featured album review in the NME's Radar section this week, along with glowing reviews inPitchfork (7.4), Drowned in Sound (8/10) and This is Fake DIY (8/10). Their single "Sugarcrush" is TheGuardian Guide's single of the Week and has been pushed up to the 6 Music B-list, the C List on Amazing Radio and has had spins on Radio One.
