Circle Traps are Jack Wyllie, Duncan Bellamy (from Portico Quartet), and close friend Will Ward.
Formed in East London in 2010 they quickly scored their first release on Subeena's OPIT imprint in early 2011, and received critical acclaim from the likes of The Wire, The Quietus , FACT and a feature in Bleeps coveted 100 tracks of the year,.
With this new release they take a bold step forward, solidifying a dark, crystalline vision that combines the ambient textures of Actress and Andy Stott with the melodic flourishes of Mount Kimbie. A driving, hypnotic gem, lead track Obelisk recalls Four Tet.
Live, the band excel. Drawing first and foremost on their skills as musicians, it boasts an instrumentalism rarely seen in live electronic music, and has seen the band confirm appearances at Land of Kings and Dimensions festivals at a precocious stage in their career. They also have a DJ set up and performed at SBTRKTs sell out London warehouse show (2500 people) this year in South London .
