British band Portishead are still without a record deal more than two years after ending their contract with label giants Universal.
The group, fronted by singer/songwriter Beth Gibbons, reunited in 2007 after an eight-year hiatus to release their third album, Third, the following year (08) and they ended their working relationship with Universal imprint Island in 2009.
They recently confirmed plans to start work on a fourth record in January (12), but producer and instrumentalist Geoff Barrow reveals the band is still without a record deal after negotiations for a new contract fell though.
He tells Bbc 6 Music, "(We were) going to sign to a company, but it didn't work out... If we can find someone that leaves us alone and we can trust, then we'd be happy."
