Pirates Of The Caribbean: DEAD MAN'S CHEST has smashed US box office records by taking $132 million (GBP73 million) during its first three days on release (07-09JUL06). The Disney sequel, which stars Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, sailed past Spider-Man's 2002 haul of $114.8 million (GBP63.8 million). The movie's producers are also celebrating a three-fold increase over PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL's $46.6 million (GBP26 million) opening in 2003. Superhero movie SUPERMAN RETURNS is a distant second place on the box office chart with $21.4 million (GBP11.9 million), closely followed by The Devil Wears Prada's $15.6 million (GBP8.7 million) take. Adam Sandler movie CLICK and animated adventure CARS round out the top five with $12 million (GBP6.7 million) and $10.3 million (GBP5.7 million) respectively.
