Casino Royale and Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest have both broken into the top ten highest-grossing films in British history.
Daniel Craig's new-look James Bond proved a hit with cinemagoers and helped the latest Bond film rake in £55.5 million in takings.
And Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley's second outing in the swashbuckling trilogy brought in £52.5 million at the box office, according to new figures released by the UK Film Council.
It means that Casino Royale is the sixth-highest grossing film in British history, while the second Pirates of the Caribbean film is eighth in the list.
But both these films pale in comparison to the takings of the top ranked picture, Titanic, which took £69 million in ticket sales after its release in 2001.
Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone is second on the list and the three Lord Of The Rings films make up the rest of the top five, taking more than £180 million between them.
In seventh is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, followed by The Full Monty (ninth) and Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (tenth).
Casino Royale tops the list of films released in the UK last year, with The Da Vinci Code, Flushed Away, The Queen and Stormbreaker also in the top five.
"British filmmakers make brilliant films which audiences flock to see, thats why Casino Royale jumped straight into the £50 million club," UK Film Council chief executive John Woodward said.
"Last years most successful British films at the UK box office demonstrate the sheer range and style of film we can make, from high-concept visual effects productions to films which reflect British culture and history."
In total, British box offices took £762 million in 2006, a decrease of one per cent from the previous year.
