BLUE singer LEE RYAN sympathises with outspoken pop punk Pink's yearning to step back into the seventies, insisting his political views would be better suited to the era.

The ALL RISE star has taken a swipe at the contemporary music scene by claiming society no longer allows pop artists to have strong opinions, because people prefer to ignore current affairs.

He says, "I like Pink - she's got enough to say. She says she should've been born in the '70s and I sometimes feel like that. It was more about the music back then, and songs were more about politics and a message.

"Nowadays, if you put a song out with a message, you're slated 'cos no one wants to hear it. Everyone would rather turn the cheek."
