Fender is to launch a signature guitar based on Pink Floyd legend David Gilmour's black Stratocaster.
Released as the 'Black Strat', it will boast the same maple neck, shortened tremolo arm and custom electronics as the original.
Gilmour's guitar was an essential part of the sound which made up classic Floyd albums such as THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, WISH YOU WERE HERE and THE WALL.
"I told Fender that it was just an ordinary Strat that I bought, but I must say they've done a great job of recreating it," said Gilmour.
Additionally, the new model will come in a custom black case with a book by Gilmours guitar tech Phil Taylor charting the history of the iconic guitar.
The Black Strat will be available to buy on September 22nd, to coincide with the release of Gilmour's triple live album 'Live In Gdansk'.
