Become a ghostbuster this Halloween - Npower shows that ghosts could be a sign of poor insulation

Newton House - Ghastly goings-on are the name of the game at some of Britain's most popular haunted houses, but npower Energy Services can reveal that the chills and draughts which many people believe to be ghosts, could be simply a sign of poor insulation. npower braved some of the most haunted houses throughout the UK and using thermal imaging, have discovered that some of the evidence that is associated with 'a ghostly presence' could be merely caused by a lack of proper draught proofing and wall and loft insulation. While guests at The Ancient Ram Inn in Gloucestershire - often cited as one of the most haunted houses in the UK, housing a witch before she was captured and burnt at the stake - experience chills and gusts of winds, npower's thermal images demonstrate that the hair raising chills are caused by heat escaping through improper insulation around the ancient doors and windows. However, npower's thermal imaging indicate the spooky sounds and goosebumps are nothing more than a product of the whistling chills rustling through the foundations due to a lack of proper wall and loft installation installed in the antique building. Simon Stacey, npower's managing director of energy services, says: "As you can see from the thermal images, the red areas highlighted around the windows, doors and roofs show the heat that is escaping from the building, allowing colder air to sweep inside.
